Marianna's stepdad was found dead in a trailer. Just like that, the 10-year-old's only positive father figure was gone. "My parents divorced when I was only 6 months old," says Marianna. "I'm not in contact with my father. So I think of my stepdad as my real dad."
The trauma of divorce, routine bullying, many moves from state to state — and then, the death of her stepdad — made Marianna's entry into teenhood anything but normal. Instead of enjoying sleepovers, art class, and family dinners, Marianna was fighting to keep suicidal thoughts at bay...and she felt like she was losing.
Marianna felt like she was the only girl in the world fighting a battle in her mind...until she came to the Ranch.
